Meet the team who is
changing people’s lives for the better
Everything we do at Brett Investment follows our core values:
Inspire
To help you to start living your best life now.
Make a difference
To make a difference to the clients we serve, the community we enjoy and the world we live in.
Care
We have been caring for our clients and their families for over 20 years.
Deliver
We deliver a client service that helps you do more, invest with confidence and minimise your taxes.
Be worth it
We only ever engage with clients who we can offer genuine value to.
“In an era in which we no longer have a personal relationship with our bank managers or lawyers, we greatly value the interest that Jeremy takes in our lives and our ambitions, and the way he uses that information to shape his advice and support.”
Neil & Pippa Dickson

Jeremy Brett
Managing Director
Jeremy started his career in financial services back in 1992 and, having experienced both the good and the bad of the industry, set up Brett Investment in his back bedroom in 2000.
Living your best life
Jeremy was one of the first Independent Financial Advisors (IFAs) in Scotland to pioneer a move to (proper) financial planning and evidence-based investing.
In 2007, Jeremy attained the globally renowned CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERCM accreditation. This was followed by becoming a Chartered Financial Planner in 2014. More recently he has become a CFP ™ Chartered Fellow (Financial Planning) of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. This represents the highest level of Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment membership and is recognised as the gold standard for financial planning professionals. Away from work Jeremy is married to Shona with whom he has three (now) adult children. In his spare time, he loves travel and coaching all aspects of rugby.
Jeremy says:
“Proper financial planning, when done well, can genuinely change people’s lives for the better. I love my job and I am constantly left humbled and inspired by the impact we have on our clients and the lives they then go on to lead. Nearly always clients can do way more than what they think they can, and my role is to help them see this and then overcome any obstacles getting in the way. It truly is a privileged position and one I am grateful for.”

Shona Brett
Director
Shona has been on the Brett Investment journey since 2006. Prior to this she ran her own Fashion Design agency – Brett Munro – until her focus then turned to raising her young family.
Shona’s responsibilities involve office and financial management as well as inspiring Brett Investment’s strategic future.
Shona says:
“Jeremy and I have always seen Brett Investment as an integral part of our family unit. Over the past 20+ years Katie has become a friend to not only us and our children but also many, many of our clients. With Roly and Nick joining us in recent years the Brett Investment family just got bigger!”

Nick Alston
Advisor
Nick joined Brett Investment in October 2020, after working as a teacher for nearly 10 years. He’s on a journey and aspires to become a fully qualified Financial Planner in the next few years.
Working full time and studying for exams isn’t easy but he has joined the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment as well as Next Gen Planners, a community of like-minded professionals with aspirations in the finance profession.
When qualified, Nick most looks forward to working with people, and implementing strategies to help clients start living their best life.
Nick is married to Caitlin who works as Doctor in the South of Scotland. Together they enjoy living in Melrose and being part of a close-knit community. Nick is a keen golfer and is also involved with Melrose Rugby Club and currently coaches the U18 Wasps Team.
Nick says:
“I really value being a part of a team who endeavour to help others, so joining Brett Investment from that perspective was a no brainer! Financial Planning – done properly – is life changing and I have seen firsthand the positive impact that this profession can have. I’m learning all the time and look forward to the future of a growing Brett Investment.”

Katie Orr
Client Services Coordinator
Katie joined Brett Investment back in the summer of 2000. Her son had started High School and finding herself redundant, she went back to college to refresh her admin skills to start a new chapter. So, I suppose you can say she is in with the bricks!
She has seen a lot of changes at Brett Investment, but the one constant she enjoys the most is the connection we have with our clients and the opportunity to be a part of their lives over the years. Katie was born in Galashiels and now lives in Selkirk, so very much a Borderer. She lives with her 2 cats and is very much our crazy cat lady!
Away from work, she enjoys reading, anything to do with history and, thankfully, since she works with Nick, Roly and Jeremy, most things rugby!
Katie says:
“I really enjoy the intimacy of working with a small team. Having been around for over 20 years, I’m thankful for the opportunity to know our clients – and get to enjoy their journey with them.”

Roly Brett
Roly is the newest member of the Brett Investment team and is developing many strings to his bow. He has aspirations to learn more and more about the business, whilst continuing to contribute towards the day-to-day activity in the office.
Away from Brett Investment, Roly enjoys playing rugby and cricket and currently plays for the 1st XV at Melrose Rugby Club and 1st XI at Melrose Cricket Club.
Roly says:
“Brett Investment is older than me and has always been a constant in my life. Since joining I have really enjoyed getting to properly understand what it takes to run a successful Financial Planning business and the difference it makes for our clients.”
