Whilst 2022 proved a difficult year for most investors, from a personal perspective the year finished well where I passed my first exam (for those interested it was the exciting subject of Regulation & Ethics!).
For a while it felt like a hurdle that I was worried about reaching and at the time I was experiencing emotions that I remembered from school and university days… or indeed from watching Scotland play rugby! No time to dwell however as there are a few more to go – the next one is in March!
What you can look forward to in 2023…
Throughout 2022 we have been working hard at reviewing how we can better help Brett Investment clients. Newer clients are undertaking a brand new ‘Discovery’ experience with the feedback so far hugely encouraging.
What’s the money for?
So as well as giving reassurance around the resilience of your portfolios, Jeremy has been engaging with our more long standing clients with a ‘Re-Discovery’ conversation – one that takes you beyond your money and focuses on what it is actually for.
Just like the Scotland rugby team recognise that success involves more than showing up and playing the game and just like musicians know that success requires more than showing up and performing… delivering a positive experience for clients requires more than you would think. So… I thought it was worth sharing with you (perhaps just as a reminder) our ‘3-hats’ approach to ‘BettrPlanning for a Better Life’:
Hat 1 – Your Finances
We play a similar role to a traditional IFA. We aim to help you become financially better organised and introduce investment and tax planning opportunities to help maximise your chances of having a successful outcome.
Hat 2 – Your Number
We call this BettrPlanning. This is where, using sophisticated and powerful financial planning programming, we calculate YOUR number. In short, we build a lifelong cashflow forecast (you probably know this as your ‘Bucket of Life’) which calculates how much is going to be enough, or indeed how much you are going to need, to live your life with confidence… all without the fear of ever running out of money.
Hat 3 – Your Life
This, we believe (and are often told) is our most valuable role. We explore with you the best version of your desired lifestyle. We understand that YOU only ever get one shot at life and so through BettrPlanning, we explore and stress test different versions of this. Having worked this way over many years we’ve discovered that feeling secure about the future is much more than just a bunch of numbers.
